Hey guys been sampling oil for awhile and although I think I solved the high copper by changing the oil cooler, it appears to still be a tad high as well as the oxidation. Here are the numbers... . anything I should be concerned about??

1st sample 12-17-05 19k on fluid with filter changes every 5k

2nd sample 4-23-06 changed fluid new oil cooler in and 6K on fluid

I have also been sampling for a while on my own rig. The Mine where I work has a very comprehensive oil analysis program.

I looked at your numbers and they almost mirror mine with 30k miles on oil I use amsoil 15w40 with there dual remote bypass filter setup with amsoil filters sample every 5k-7500k miles and change full flow filter only after sample results come back, still original bypass filter.

I would change your oil due to the high Oxidation number. it is a sign of oil degradation and can cause acid formation. 100 is the highest normaly allowed the cat dealer should have flagged this number.

billvo,

they did flag the oxidation as "reportable" but I had no idea what that meant. I will change the oil. Is it always recommended to use the amsoil engine flush? I have used it the last two changes... didn't no if that would make a difference. I do not have the bypass filters just the donaldson and was wondering if it is doing it's job.

I have never used the engine flush myself. It may be what is causing the number. If you do regular maintenance you should never have to use the flush. I would only recommend it on an engine that is in a used vehicle with unknown history and only a 1 time deal. I would change the oil without the flush then sample again after 1k miles. The donaldson should be fine it is a very high quality filter.

Thanks... I'm trying to get these numbers in check. I want to say that the switch to synt. oil is better, but I keep having to change the stuff and its getting expensive. I will try the change w/o the flush and see if it improves.
