Just got the results from my latest engine oil analysis. I put 9,400 miles on my CTD 6-speed 4x4 towing a 5,000 lb TT on the backroads of Texas for three months. I changed the oil & filter just before I left at 5,800 miles and changed it again when I got back to Oregon at 15,200 miles. I used Delo 400 & Geno's filters. The bottom line - the analysis showed the oil still within acceptable limits and most of the elements were at lower levels than the first analysis at 5,800 miles. I would feel comfortable going 10,000 miles between changes with this type of driving.
The truck ran great. Absolutely no problems. I love that 6-speed for towing through steep & curvey mountain roads. I averaged 15 MPG for the entire 9,400 miles. There was a fair amount of city driving and some 70 MPH freeway, but mostly 55 MPH on the backroads.
For those interested, I can email you a copy of both oil analysis reports.
Texas was great - very friendly people. Texans seem to have their social-economical act together. Great roads, campgrounds and BBQ!
