What oil to use

For those of you who take oil samples for analysis, which companies offer the best service & results for the price? Looking for some ideas of how to get started. Thanks in advance.

I buy a prepaid kit from my Amsoil dealer. I think it's about $26 for the sample collection cup and prepaid mailer. This includes the cost of the test and results. For an additional $-I don't remember exactly but I think it was around $20 I bought their pump to draw the samples. The samples go to OAI. Oil Analysers, Inc. About 2 weeks later you get the results. Not too bad a system.

Just out of curiousity, how many sample bottles do they send with the test kit?

Thanks.

The first kit they sent had only one bottle... ... the next kit they sent me had three sample bottles. by the way they are fast with a response . e-mail in a day or so and the written soon to follow. . Oo.

Well, after haveing gary and others go the "Blackstone" route, I decided to try them.

I received the one bottle and took the sample. The cost of the testing was $22. 50 and then another $10. 00 for the TBN test for a total of $32. 50!

Blacksotne suggests sending by UPS, FEDEX, as mailing takes too long, so I sent it by FEDEX. Big mistake! They charged $18. 75! (Wife didn't realize it was being sent by AIR!) Now the total cost was $51. 25!

I'm going back to Oil Analyzers Inc. through Amsoil, as the cost is only $21. 50(DEALER PRICE) for a complete test including TBN, and the shipping through UPS is included for that price!
