Archived oil /antifreeze mix out the overflow

On the way home last night I did do a short high speed burst,pull in garage and get out and low and behold Oil running out on the floor. Upon futher inspection it was coming out the overflow bottle,slimmy ugly mess. With any luck it will be the oil cooler and not a head or gasket. Any similar experiences from others? Heck I've been wanting a set of twins but the hx-40 seems to be killing her on it's own. Tim

Darn diesels are to hard to check the cylinders for a compression test.



You may want to check your oil for antifreeze to see if it mixed there as well. I hope it's not a cracked head/block.

I'd check the oil cooler first

ramman,



That's what I'd do.



I read in the 6B manual that when the engine is running, oil pressure is greater than coolant pressure so the flow would be from the lube oil system to cooling system.

Now when the engine is shut down, the pressure in the cooling system is greater than the lube oil pressure so the flow would reverse,

hence flow of coolant into the lube oil supply thereby contaminating the oil as well as the coolant.

The oil cooler seems to be a lot easier to remove versus the cylinder head.

Does your truck have an oil cooler? Find out and test it before you tear down the engine.

Oil cooler air tested ok so we pulled the head will have head checked maybe its just a head gasket. More updates as the search continues.
