I'm leaving on a four week 6000 +/- mile vacation in the 05. Are you guys doing this many miles towing without an oil change?. My trailer is 10K lbs, and I'm running Delo with a Fleetgard Strat filter.

According to the owners manual it should be good to go.

Mac: I towed a TT last winter for 9,000 miles using Delo & a Fleetgard. Had the oil analyzed before I changed it and it was still well within allowable tolerances. So I think you should be good to go.

I just changed oil in the truck today with nearly 10,000 miles on it. 4800 of those miles were pulling our 7500lb tt to California and back (total miles for trip was 5051 miles). The oil had about 3500 miles on it when we left. I changed the oil filter and added makeup oil at 5000 miles. I had to add less than 0. 5 quart before and after the filter change for the whole 10000 miles.

I also sent in an oil analysis kit for the first time today. I'm curious to see how things turn out and will keep everyone posted.

So far I'm pretty happy with these results. I guess the oil test will confirm wether this milage was a good idea or not :D .

I use Royal Purple 15W40 and Fleetguard StrataPore filters (#LF16035)

Mac,

You won't have any problems with your oil. Delo is a fine oil. I wouldn't worry about it for one second. Enjoy the scenery!
