I just changed the oil in my 2014 1500 eco-diesel. The oil "guage" was in the red reading change now. I've tried several times to get the "guage" to reset but to no avail, it won't. I have the push button start and did what it said in the handbook and this thing will not reset. If anyone can offer some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem with a 2012 Ram 1500. Supposed to be able to press a button and have it reset. Nope..no way. So I tried the "old fashioned" primitive way. I turned the ignition to the on position, do not start, just to on. Then press and release the accelerator pedal three time to the floor. Try that. It may work.

I've tried to do it that way numerous times and it still won't reset. Getting frustrated.

I had troubles with this the other day. Turns out I was holding the right arrow button when “cancel” was selected instead of “reset.” You have to hold the right arrow button to get into the reset screen. Then scroll until reset is highlighted. Then press the right arrow button again.
Yep. Now that you mention the process I remember that's what cured my mistake, too. Too fast, or slow on the foot pedal will also fail to reset. I think it was three times within five seconds.

Here's what my 2011 Jeep Patriot says:

To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance), refer to the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position. Do not start the engine.
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
