Some people recommend every 3 months irregardless of the miles. Which would mean 1k or less for me sometimes. I generally change 2x a year regardless of the mileage. I drive two hours at a crack 2x a month , except for an occasional long trip. So far oil analysis ok and the recomendation is 8 or 9k . For me that would be 1x a year - to long in my book.

I try to change mine every 3500-4000, I know its overkill but most of the year Im cold starting with just a short trip to work, I dont think the thing even gets all the way up to temp lots of times.

I do mine twice a year, which puts me around 10K miles between changes.

I'm sure I'll get shot on this forum for it:-laf

its your truck :)

ive been doing 3k but i think i might jump it up to 4 or 5k. i do alot of stop and go with 4k trailer. i do reach op temp every trip though.

7,000-7500 mile OCI for me. Blackstone does my used oil analysis, and TBN is still strong at around 8 using CJ-4 Rotella T 15w40.

when the lab report gets to the point to change it. I average about 21k on an oil change, which is about 1 3/4 of a year for me. Of course I use full synthetic and have a by pass. Oil samples every 5k along with full flow filter change and by pass filter change every 10k.

ps over the course of 21k there is usually about 8qts make up oil with filter changes. truck rarely if ever needs oil between and when it does, it is truely a splash to get back to full.

A member once said "changing the oil is like flushing the toilet", 5k for me and I have a oil bypass filter.

I drive about 17. 5 k / year

5k oil change

5k oil filter change (when oil is changed)

5k oil bypass filter cannister drained (when oil is changed)

10k oil bypass filter change (when oil is changed every other time)

Bypass Filter

RACOR 802 LFS 2 micron 99. 7% . 5 gpm (entire oil sump every 6 minutes).

However, because there is a mix of just filtered oil and not filtered oil I assume a complete sump cleaning every 20 minutes. It DOES NOT filter soot which is sub micron. I think I have read that anything between 1 - 3 microns will pass right through bearings etc without damage to the bearings or getting stuck in the bearing.
