I was changing my filter yesterday and this is the first time I really had time to just look at the motor/parts. On top of the oil filter mount, where the line goes to the turbo, there is another hole there that is plugged or capped off. What is it there for? There must be a reason it is there , just wondering what/why. Any ideas?

I use mine for oil pressure.

Oil temp is generally close to water temp.

The instrument panel oil pressure goes through the data bus.

I trust a direct reading gauge MUCH more than the data bus, and use the data bus as a cross check.

The OEM oil pressure sensor has a tendency to occassionally fail (as does everything). I will not run the engine without oil pressure and therefore the backup.

The truck is not here right now orI would go take a pic. Looks s if its abouta 1/4 size head on it to unscrew, but I didnt know what it was for. . . . .

So you put an oil temp sensor it that port for another gauge? Any pics of the install / gauge? Thanks Don

I use it for the supply line to my by pass filter. Can be used for the temp or pressure sensor too, or anything that u need to run a supply line of oil too, right?
