I have a 2011 With auto. Removed engine at 142,000 miles to replace head gasket. While it was out I had the head decked .010, fire ringed and a valve seat grind. When I received the head back from Hamilton Cams in Texas I installed new stem seals and a matched set of 103# springs. The block, bore and pistons looked fine. Had an engine oil sample done and other than to much glycol it was ok. Did not pull crank or rods. Installed a Hamilton Cams cam and stock Cummins lifters and push rods. Used all Cummins gaskets and fire rings. ARP 625 bolts, new water pump, Fluidamper harmonic balancer, hoses, Fleece fuel filter delete and Air Dog II. Stock injectors with 100 over nozzles. I had Ryan Milikan write a tune for my H&S Mini Max. Installed completed engine and it fired right up. My issue is that it now eats oil. In 4000 miles it used 4 quarts. I did a couple of trips with trailer behind me and exhaust brake engaged. Concerned I topped off and have been keeping a close eye on it. In the past 2500 miles it has used about 1/2 quart. I have not used exhaust brake. Intake tube at intake manifold is dry. No oil leaks anywhere.
I have not pulled exhaust from turbo yet.
I have not done a compression/ leakdown test yet.
I run Amsoil full synthetic.

Questions:
1 If a cylinder wall was scored could the exhaust brake build pressure in pan and put oil past rings.
2 Could it get past valve seals.
3 Could turbo be leaking a little oil and it burning it. I have never seen white smoke. Only jet black from fuel.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the consumption started with the head work I would suspect it is related to the head work, specifically the stem seals.

The exhaust brake doesn't build anywhere near the cylinder pressure that combustion does.

I will put new seals on when I do compression check.
I have heard that the amount of pull from the increased torque of the head studs can distort the cylinder bore. I find it difficult to believe this. If true how much distortion can a oil control ring take care of?

One cylinder at a time at TDC and it can be done. I have to pull injectors to do a compression test and my rocker arms need to come off to get them out. Long process leaning over fender.
