Doing my final check over before departing for my 2,000 mile journey to CA from TX, I pulled the oil dipstick to check the oil level, but couldn't seem to get it back in. I noticed that my dipstick tube was cracked in half at the mount that is halfway down the tube. I managed to push it back together and get the dipstick back in, then proceeded to JB Weld it for the trip. It spued some oil, but not enough to effect the oil level.

Anyhow, now I need to remove it and get a new one. What is involved in doing this? Anyone know where I can get one, or does anyone have one laying around? Thanks.

unbolt it from the intake horn, then there is a stud down on the fuel filer housing. Unbolt it from that, and then it should come out. The only thing holding it at that point is the o-ring. You may have to pull pretty hard.

yeah we had a dipstick crack on us one time also. when we bought a new and put it back in we did not reinstall the stud that way there is less pressure on the tube. we just bolted it up at the intake horn and havent had a problem since.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It was very obvious that the second stud was the reason for the break. Where can I get a new one?
