This is some follow up questions to StrokeThis-07's https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/5-9l-engine-transmissions-2003-2007/211012-turbo-install-write-up.html ... posted just too late for me too, but great write up. I'm in the middle of installing the silverbullet 66 too. I ended up taking the manifold off again too because of the oil drain problem - the manifold is a third-hand aftermarket one, and I found out it came off an 11-sec truck. Man that thing has shrunk and it took me and a friend a LONG time to get it on. So I was especially bummed out when I saw too late the predicament about the oil drain bolt. So off it came again. I'm now getting the manifold ceramic coated and hopefully the flange holes machined as well, but that manifold is made out of some tough stuff, dunno if it will work.

Sorry if I should have tacked them on to that thread, but these questions diverge a bit from the actual turbo install.

Is it just me or do I need a longer turbo oil drain line? I'm going go have to remove the stock one anyways because the bolts that fit the turbo won't fit through the flange of the drain line. I know the stock bolts should fit, but they don't (I also bought the turbo second-hand). So how does that drain line come off the block? Its impossible to get a good look at it ! It will turn, so I'm hoping I can just unscrew it. Do I need to drain the oil before removing it?

Secondly, the SB66 is mechanically wastegated and I don't have the wastegate sensor fooler. The guy I bought it from indicated that I just need to plug the factory wastegate solenoid back in. Does that mean I somehow have to remove it from the stock turbo? (sorry if that is a dumb question, I couldn't see any easy way to do this). Another forum mentioned using a 150 ohm resistor - does that mean just connecting the 2 wires on the wastegate sensor with a resistor?? There is a wastegate sensor fooler for $40 US available, but I'll skip that if I can use a resistor. I already have an MP-8 that boost fools the MAP.

Thirdly, I'd like to adjust the wastegate actuator. Any tips on doing this? The only info I found was for a mercedes turbo, but is this the basic principle on how to do it?

Your responses and help would be greatly appreciated.

drain is held by o-rings so just wiggle, twist and pull. pipe wrench or channel locks will remove boost solenoid.
