Just had to replace my "reusable" gasket, dealer-only, five-star stealer price of $9. 11 plus tax. Ouch! Only one dealer had it in "stock," otherwise it would've been two to three day order "wait. " Will need to get a "spare" for next time so I wouldn't be DOA for a day, or longer.

Local Cummins only handle's "generator's. "

Get an aftermarket drain plug. It will save you lots of headaches in the future. The factore plug will eventually crack, from what I hear. Try Genos. I have an aftermarket one with a magnet on it. I thing it is called the Superplug. It is manufacture in houston. They did have a web site a while back, check in on them. Very good product. I think it ran around $25. I believe Genos has one very similar, if not the same.

The Super Plug is amazing. It is big and beefy(1 1/8" hex), and has the most powerful mgnet attached to it I have ever seen. It was a little difficult to install due to the magnet sticking to the side of the plug hole. Seems like an excellent product.

I didn't have that problem with my superplug. The magnets may be attached differently between our two plugs though since yours is probably an M22 and mine is an M18 plug. I remember having no difficulty at all inserting the plug though.

If you ever need some powerful magnets, tear apart an old computer hard drive. There are usually two magnets inside that are VERY POWERFUL, much more so than the superplug magnet.

The '02 drain plug has a rubber seal around it. They look a bit cheesy though. The plug also looks to be "cast" and it looks like pot metal. Just another cost cutter. They also do not want to be torqued as tight.

LOL, had the same experience on my last oil change. Man, that is one strong magnet.
