Oil drain plug possibly stripped!

Hi. I just changed my Ecodiesel oil this week. Everywhere says the torque spec is 33 ft lbs, but as I torqued it to 30, it felt like it was stripping out so I stopped. 33 ft lbs seems crazy high. Anyone else? Can it be helicoiled? I hope it won’t fail till I try it again.
I bought a brass plug from Geno’s Garage that has a drain tube that drains it but the torque for it was 30 newton. I looked that up and it equals only 6.74 ft lbs! That seems little so I chickened out of using it.

My new Femco Drain Valve and tube says 30 newton

s on the container, nothing else. That equates to 6.74 ft lbs!
Seems dainty to me.

I don't use a lot of nM, but I checked that 30 nM, looks like 22.1 ft lbs.

Oh, I wonder where I got 6.74 lbs? I went back and see what you posted. I was wrong. LOL That sounds more correct. I wish the container said the torque that American’s use.

I dug up some old 2001 posts where the FSM was 44ft lb for those back then, seems like a pretty constant over torque spec from the factory on some of these, or the thing changes so much the FSM cant keep up with the physical changes in plugs the assembly folks throw in.

I checked out that femco website. Pretty neat stuff, but not one install guide, it's all in the UK it appeared, seems like a lot of industries use their stuff and it's been around for a long time. Should be a nice install.

Almost always, the plug is softer than the threaded part of the pan. I’ve come across all kinds of situations- HELP! rack universal plugs, rubber plugs- mostly quicky lube foul ups.
I’ve always been able to save the pan by chasing the thread with a tap and getting a OEM plug, or in this case, the custom plug.
