Oil drain plugs

There are a couple of quick drain plugs in the Geno's catalog. The finger touch looks like it sticks down quite a bit. The EZ change drain plug also looks like it sticks down if the knurled bottom portion stays attached. Or, is it just the hex part that stays with the oil pan?



For off roading in rocks, probably neither one would be suitable???

I had the EZ drain plug on my 98. 5 and liked it. It has a brass cap that screws on and doesn't stick down very much. It went with the trade when I got the new truck. The size was different than on the '03 or I would have kept it. I also have had the "finger touch" one on my old Fords they worked fine, but stuck down quite a way, that type is easier to use and cleaner (no oil tube to clean up). Having said all that, I probably will stick with the stock plug on this truck. There was a thread a few months ago about some problem with an aftermarket plug and the truck lost it's oil.

The EZ Drain Plug and the Quick Changer look like the same product to me.

The EZ change (Quick Change) looks like a better option than the Finger Touch. But, the safest solution would be to stay with the flush plug. Although, if you shear off an EZ change, you're getting your oil pan a little too close to rocks for comfort.

I installed quick drains on a couple of my airplanes. Sure made oil changes a breeze (so to speak)

I felt the same way about the finger touch. I got one in now. I've found that the perceived length isn't an issue, especially with the 4x4. The pan is way up in there.



It'd take some serious rock crawling to get to it.

I put the finger touch (with the nipple) on my truck at it's first oil change, and it does stick down a bit. It wasn't a concern for me though, my Ram isn't for wheeling.

I don't think you could ever hit it with a rock. You'd have to shove a pretty good sized log up in there to do anything to it. They're quite a ways up out of the way.
