on my 04. 5... ... ... ??

haven't had one drop from the 2 96's... . disappointing.

where do i get or how do i make one of those breather/oil catcher thingys?

thanks.

scott.

I suppose you could get one from an older model and make it work. I think you are probably experiencing blow by from the rings not being totally seated yet. The tube on my 03 is no worse than the tube on my 01. Doesn't even spot the driveway.

The easiest way to make one is to take something like a vitamin bottle. Cut a hole in the top, the size of the hose. Slip the hose in the top and put a nylon cable tie inside the top on the hose so that the top stays on the hose. Then, screw the bottle onto the top. Make sure to drill a couple of breather holes in the top or in the top of the bottle to relieve the pressure or it will blow the bottle off.

dripping form blowby tube

I have an 05 and mine did not start dripping until after the 60k oil change. I think the rings should have worn in by then,,,,no?

Sorry about the first post. A slip of the key board. My 03' is having the same problem with oil coming out the breather pipe. It has 77,000 mi on it. and uses no oil between changes. Is this common?. , it's my first diesel. I will do the plastic bottle trick. Thanks

Are you sure its motor oil! My 04. 5 has 122,000 miles on it. At around 60,000 I started to notice a drip. I thought no big deal its a diesel but, after my customers had asked that I do not park in the drive way I cleaned the engine and kept it clean to find where the oil was coming from the stock catch bottle in the valve cover was clean and the top end of the tube was dry. so why is the bottom oilly? To make my long story shorter. It was coming from a small high pressure fuel leak that just seaped fuel and ran down the out side of the breather tube.
