Has anyone had experience with oil filter magnet applications such as FilterMag? Do they work? Do they change your filter change cycle experience?

They sure wouldn't hurt, it still doesn't stop the oil from breaking down though. I am looking into buying the for my rig.

i use three earth magnets on the outside of my fleetguard filter. when it came time for an oil change(after using them) i opened up the filter and found a fine dusting of metal on the inside of the filter where the magnets were located. that was at about 7k and i been using them ever since.

Magnets $ Temperature

This site http://www.kjmagnetics.com/safety.asp states that "Neodymium magnets will lose their magnetic properties if heated above 175° F (80° C)". So my next question is How hot does our oil get? I've seen the pictures of oil filter cut aways that show external magnets collecting metal particles so I know it works. Would a magnet with a better temperature profile work better? I love the simplicity of this solution. I've seen the "Filtermag" adverts. I dont know why anyone would essentially throw the magnet in the filter. It could get plugged and you have to buy lots of magnets.

Thanks

Tim
