I just recently got a 2011 and considering using the Donaldson ELF7349 oil filter. I had previously used these on my 2002 with no problems. With the soot load that the oil carries in these newer ones is this thing going to plug up faster and just go into bypass mode?

I do not think so; if the current Fleetguard oil filters LF16305/LF3972 can be used on the 1989 to 2014 engines. I do not see why the Donaldson filter could not be used.

I think as long as you are following the factory oil change interval, you won't have any issues. The ELF7349 is an outstanding filter and one of the ways that it provides superior flow, filtration, and capacity is by using synthetic media. In other words, it's made for exactly what you are using it for.
