Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) oil filter question

I know there has been discussions about the oil filters on the 98 and newer trucks. Seems if they are the regular 'Fram' type, cellulose filter you can run into dissolving problems. I've been using the Cummins filter, getting them from the Cummins dealer, at about 9. 00 each. I now get a discount at the Dodge dealers that will make the cost of the filter about a dollar cheaper,, plus it's closer. Does anyone know if the 'Dodge' filter is the same 'stratopore' we're supposed to use,, according to Cummins? One would assume the dodge filters would be the same, wouldn't one?? The "Dodge" filter for the Cummins application is manufactured by Fleetguard.

It is not the stratopore filter, but it is approved and safe for use with your engine.

I dont think the Mopar filters are the stratopore filters I think they are just the standard filter eliment ... I know they are or were the fleetguard filters repainted for Mopar that you can get from Cummins dealers.

there was a artical in the TDR mag some time back on a Oil Filter test it had some good comparisons and cut apart filters to look at. Ill look and see if I can find it and post here if I can!

PS stay away from the Fram and other budget filters there are some good aftermarket filters from what I remember from the artical I was talking about!
