oil filter wont screw on

my hubby is in the driveway freaking out because he cant thread the oil filter back on he has tried 2 filters and cant get them to thread on they are fleetgaurd filters and yes it is the right part #. please reply if you can help.

The angle of the filter mount is not completely vertical, its angled a little, tilted out at the bottom i believe gives me fits evrytime. Also you are looking at it upside down, make sure rotation is correct for installing instead of removal.

Mine too!

Had the same problem with my 01. The angle is off and the threads are fine. Took me longer to put filter back on then to do the whole oil change. I guess I wasn't holding my mouth right or my hat wasn't on side ways or something. I still think the Engineers should try to work on a test truck before they mass produce them, just to see all the pains we as owners go thru.

I also had trouble getting my fat hands and short fingers in a position where I was able to grip the filter and start it. I now fill the filter, slide it in position under the filter bracket, lay on the ground and reach up to the bottom of the filter. Much quicker and a lot easier.

One more time, but different, REMOVE THE TURBO OUTLET TUBE from the turbo. I don't see how it is possible to easily deal with the filter any other way.

I always remove the turbo inlet for easy access and a quick inspection of turbo and air filter. I just switched over to the LF3552 from the standard mopar . Never had a problem threading the mopar's on. The threads must be a bit finer on the fleetguards. Lady K is a good woman but she didn't get dirty on this one. lol. She's not timid though loves the diesel, avid sledder and a specialty steel welder.
