Im going to go pick up an oil filter for my 02. I dont feel like driving all the way down to cummins, so Ill just go to the dodge dealer down the road. The mopar is a fleetguard is it not ? Also, can anyone tell me if the mopar is the stratoport or non-stratoport ? Of if dodge sells both ?

Thanks

I guess you didnt read my post. I dont want to drive all the way down to cummins. That is why I am asking about the mopar filter.

i read it, just saying that if you have a concern about it being a stratapore, just go to the cummins dealer and not have to worry about it... . or you can ask the parts guy at the dealer, but who knows if he has any good knowledge of the filters... .

Thanks,

Not that concerned. Just curious. Sometimes the dodge parts guys just dont know. And the cummins guy always pushes me towards the non stratoport filter.

X2 on Genos... their prices are as good as anybodys and they are on your door step within a few days.

my poor old 94 has lived on mopar oil filters for MANY years. Dropped the pan when I had the trans out last time and you could have eaten off it... ... ... . well if the flavor didn't bother you

Thanks
The parts guy at the dodge dealer didnt have a clue who made the mopar, so I ended up taking a couple of hours and drove down to cummins for the fleetguard

I generally get my fleetguard filters from genos, but at times have gotten mopar filters from wal-mart to which I understand are made by fleetguard, not sure abut stratapore or not, least its not a fram. Motor is stil running strong, haha

IIRC there are 3 companies that make the filters for MOPAR, only one of which is Fleetguard. The MOPAR ones are non-stratapore.

DavidC... yes Cummings. A Stratoport filter does, in fact, go on a Cummings Diesel. A StrataPore goes on a Cummins Diesel. :D (I'm sorry guys... I couldn't resist. I'm not perfect either so don't flame me. I make plenty of little mistakes along the way).

I always thought the 24V filter purchased from a dealer was a StrataPore Fleetguard. Even if it's not... it's a Fleetguard and any Fleetguard will work well and take you to 750K miles no problem with proper service intervals. I'd also not hesitate to use a WIX (Napa Gold), Baldwin, Case IH (Fleetguard) or other HD brand filter on these tough, durable engines. I would stay away from the typical FRAM, Delco, SuperTech sold at Wal-Mart and the local parts places.

WIX makes some decent stuff and out sources things they don't make from OEM suppliers many times. Their fuel filters for ISC engines are Fleetguard StrataPore. I know this for certain as the logo is right on the cannister and they are identical to Fleetguard filters. We've used WIX on a fleet of 30 turbo-diesel tandem dump trucks and a wide array of heavy equipment at work for many years. Never any failures or problems in sample testing the oil.
