I'm wanting to get a secondary oil filteration unit/"bypass system" Who makes the best one, or should I say what is everyone using that has one, where did they get it and how much... ? Are they hard to install? Thanks

THere are several oil by-pass systems available. Many people on this site use the Amsoil brand, and they are not difficult to install. Prices will be anywhere from $200. 00 and up on different brands. If you do get one, make sure you get some info regarding the amount of soot that the filter will remove, as well as its efficincey at removing contaminants less than 5 micron.

Tolet Paper? I didn't know there was such a thing... Would it help with the black streeks that I get on my finders from my stacks. :-laf

If you go over to "bob is the oil guy.com", you will find an oil bypass filter forum. If you do a lot of reading, on that forum, you will better be able to make an educated decision as to which "System" would be best for you.

They all have their pluses & minuses. The toilet paper filters seem to work well & the filters (TP) are cheap but, need to be changed at 2000-3000 mile intervals. Then you have to add "make-up" oil to replace the oil that was lost in the filter change.

Some of the other filters will go much longer between changes but, are more expensive to change.

In all the reading I've done, it appears "to me" that the greatest advantage & convenience of oil bypass filters is if you do a LOT of driving, such as towing commercially. If you use a high-quality synthetic motor oil, along with an oil bypass system, you should be able to do extended oil drain intervals, which, would be very convenient while you are on the road.

My guess is that most of us are using bypass filtration because we want the Best for our engines. That "Feel Good" feeling has value, also.

Happy reading on BITOG.
