I have always used an LF3552 in my 96 12 valve . Now i see it is no longer available from Genos . I see on other posts ,most are using LF3894 but Genos shows this for 98. 5 and newer and to use the LF16035 on my 96 . Any opinions on this ? I think i will wait till Monday and go to my local Cummins dealer and get some more LF3552 fiters . Arnie

I've been putting the LF3894 on my '96 for the last 100,000 miles. If I recall the LF3552 was the Microglass, which I remember a decade ago as being the one that filters very well but has quite a bit less capacity (holds less dirt) than the LF3894 (Stratapore).

I see you joined TDR about the same time I did, did you come over here from Cummins Diesel Website?

LF3552 is obsolete. Replaced by LF3806.

I run an LF16035 on both my '97 and '06. Only have to keep one part number oil filter in my home stock that way.

The only difference between the LF3894 and LF16035 are the flutes on the bottom of the filter can.

See the Fleetguard link (I used a '97 Ram for the example)

And this link that references the LF16035.

I wonder how long the LF3552 has been obsolete . There are plenty of them out there for sale even by the dozen . I know that the LF3552 sure keeps the oil a lot cleaner than the regular paper type filters . Hopefully the 16035 will also. aRNIE
