A little oil in the turbo is no big deal, it may be off your air filter if you are using an oiled element filter.

That is the usual cause of oil in the boots & all trucks running a oiled filter will get this. It won't hurt the engine, but actually helps catch dust that passes through the filter. Wipe it out every now & then.

Don't get me wrong, I realize this happens with oiled air filter elements. My problem is that there is a nice black oil "run" just in front of the compressor wheel in the housing. It was already hardened too, so it must have been there for the majority of the last 5K miles since I had last checked it.



It's that hard black "run" (like a paint "run" almost) that concerned me, and caused me to get in on this thread.

Duane, sounds like your seals are going, that's why I just replaced mine. You would have had to soak the filter in motor oil overnite to get the amount of oil that was in my compressor housing!
