I've got 99,910 miles on my '02 2500. While changing the oil I removed the elbow from the air filter and noticed a small amount of oil on the inside of my turbo. Not a lot, but it's never been there before. So of course I sent it to the dealer and they said that since the turbine isn't loose and there is no oil down in the intercooler, then it is okay. Well, from the way I understand it, there shouldn't be ANY oil in the turbo... period. Seems like Cummins is telling me that although you have a problem, it's not bad enough for us to fix. Being that I only have about 90 miles left on my warranty, anyone have any suggestions? Should I take it to another dealer? Thanks

I would try not to break 100,000 and take it to another dealer, a buddy of mine had the same thing on his '99 and he got a new turbo under warranty.

What Kernel said and MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING if they don't change the turbo. Include the observations (yes there is oil in the turbo) their decision, and the number of miles on the truck.

This will be potent ammo in small claims court when the turbo does fail.

My 01 w/124k and my sons 02 w/67k both have a small amount of oil on the bottom of the air inlet side of the turbo. Dunno if it's normal or not but we're not losing any sleep.

My 01 did the same thing at about 100,000. Had a K&N in at the time. Dealer told me my turbo was bad. I didn't believe them, I didn't burn any oil, no blue smoke and no abnormal noises or performance. I switched to the BHAF :) at about 115,000 and about three days later checked for oil. The turbo was clean and has been since, I have 127,000 now. Someone said that I was pulling the oil off my K&N but there was alot of oil in the turbo and the oil was very black and smelled like engine oil.
