Hello Everyone, need you guys wisdom badly. I have a 97 model 3500 that developed a bad oil leak the other day. The source of the leak appears to be some sort of cover that is just below the fuel cutoff solenoid. The cover has a piece of safety wire across it. There is a small metal pin that seems to have pierced the cover from the inside and is sticking out of it. I could take it off an patch it to stop the leak, but I didn't really won't to until I knew what I was dealing with. Also any ideas what this pin sticking out could be and if it's going to cause any problems. Thanks for your help!!!

This is not the kdp. As stated in my original question, this is on the side of the injection pump directly below the fuel cutoff solenoid. I just really would like to know what's behind that cover before I cut the safety wire and mess around in the pump. I don't want to create a bigger problem than the oil leak.

Has to be the access cover for the governor springs. Nothing else there. My '95 manual shows the safety wire across the cover. I don't think I would drive it till I got that cover off and inspected it. Something sure ain't right, in addition to the oil leak.

Is your throttle hard to press ??

Just had a problem with a friends truck the other day, with a hard throttle.

The way everyone that i talked with made it sound is that there are a couple of pins in governer part of the pump that hold things together.

Seems weird that you have a pin sticking out of there. Break the wire, pull the little tin cap and check it out.

Take pics if possible.

Pump work ?

Thanks for the info. If time permits, I am going to jump right in there and see what's going on behind the cover. Yes Curtis, it is very weird to have that pin sticking through and even more weird that the engine still runs perfectly.
