I have a oil leak on the Chevy conversion. I haven't had the rocker cover off and have not had one problem with the motor AT ALL. It was a re-man when it was installed. Is this leak a NORMAL problem with these motors? Would like any ideas on the fix and if it's JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS!!!

This is not the motor but just to show where the oil leak is

Thanks

Looks like a simple valve cover leek if that is were its at get a gasket set and replace one nut and its off id replace all of them not just one . Or describe more were its at , if its down lower check to make shure your pump is tight and not missing a bolt i had one come out on my 92!!!!

Im sure its the valve cover, I have washed off the oil and ran it and for sure its the place I just wasn't sure if this particular motor year is known for valve cover leaks or not.

Thanks

BIG

If the surface of the head is not clean the gasket will not seal. Take some fine sandpaper and gently clean the sealing surface on the head so it is smooth and you should be good. Also be sure not to get the dust into the valve area.

If the seal is old, replace.

Thanks for the tip, the motor has 40K on it sense it was a re-man, I was thinking it would be a fluke problem and it seems as it was but good to ask some that are more knowledgeable on this Gen Cummins

I've heard that some aftermarket manufacturers of gasket materials produce valve cover gaskets that leak. Don't know how reliable that information was, but at about $7 each, I just bought the "grey" cummins gaskets and put them on, torqued to spec, making sure both surfaces were super clean when installed. Rumor has it, the cummins seals are made of a higher quality material, hence the lack of leaks.

Since I had the VC's off, I adjusted the valves at the same time...

Get to it yet, BIG?

Got the gaskets, but FIL/Son have been working me like rented MULE!!!! Haven't got time to get at it yet, Eat WORK MOST OF THE DAY shower, eat, SLEEP. I dont know for sure what year it was, but didnt Abraham Lincoln free us from this kind of thing???

Actually the Wife and I are having a Parent moment, we are seeing our Son and his Grandfather becoming BEST OF PARDS!!! ya just cant ask for better than that in my book.
