Oil Leak

I have an oil leak some where on the front of the engine. I can't see where it is coming from. I don't think it is the front seal but I can't be sure. Do any of you know of any common leak spots are? I hate to tear the front end apart to find the leak and have to put it all together again until I get parts. (hazards of living in the middle of no where) TIA

Cummins and Cat both make an additive for engine oil and finding leaks... you pour this into the oil and run the engine... you than look at the front of the engine (wet spots) with a black light and the leak glows bright green in the black light... .

This is a 4 oz bottle and can be mailed anywhere. .

The only prep for this process is to wash the engine at a car wash or what ever.....

You my want to check your crankcase vent, if you haven't done that already.

Is the leak near the passenger side or driver side or center? Top or bottom of the engine?

I will hazard a guess... front main seal, behind the harmonic balancer. Mine started leaking before 30k...

Leak is in front of engine. Hard to tell exactly where as oil is moved around from air movement. At this time the front seal is suspect.

Mine seems to be leaking around the Timing Cover Housing Plate!!

Not 100% sure yet ,,but under side is covered,,blowing back from some where??

Is this gasket hard to replace??

Mine is leaking on the drivers side.

I solved the problem. I traded the truck on new 2012!
