Oil leaking somewhere between injector pump and engine block on the back of the timing chain case - can't see it. Loosing about 1 qt/250 miles - isn't squirting, just a steady drip. Could it be a loose camshaft positioner? Or what?

might check and see if it is leaking from the shaft that drives the power steering pump. i think there is an o ring or seal that is prone to leak. mine was leaking there but i dont think i was loosing that much oil, so it may not be that.

Check your vacuum pump and check your lifter cover gasket. They are getting old enough to get hard and crack. We've had a rash of em at the shop lately.

vaccum pump cleak

There is a seal on the shaft between vac and powersteering pump. Go to fixingrams.com or Genos garage. They have a kit to fix the leak. I did mine 2 wk ago took about 5 hours. No more leak. The kit comes with written directions and a video. :):):)Oo.

We replaced every front end seal except the seal between the timing case and the engine block. all seals in the vacuum pump/power steering drive sequence were replaced. Leak didn't show up until AFTER all this work was done (original reason for the teardown was replacement of the injector pump). It is possible that one of the new seals was defective. The oil leaks from some place that is not visible - after cleaning off all the oil, none of the visible potential leak locations seems to leak. The oil appears to come from an area concealed by the injector pump and vacuum/power steering unit.

Thanks for the comments.
