I have a 2000 4x4 auto,25,000 miles and the back of the oil pan has oil leaking from it. It is dripping from some of the oil pan bolt I have wiped it off several times but it comes back after about 1500 miles. Could it be a rear main seal,I have checked above it an everthing looks dry. I run Amsoil 15W-40 could this have somthing to do with it leaking. If it is the pan can it be removed easily or do you have to raise the engine or pull the trans. Thanks for the help.

ALE8-1,

When I first got my truck I too found oil dripping off of a few of the oil pan bolts. I park my truck on a very steep driveway. I simply got out the old socket wrench and started tightening the pan bolts. To my suprise some where a lot looser than others. No more leaks and most important no need to take it to the dealer!
