I just go my '99 CTD. I have been seeing oil leaking from the front. I was thinking it was coming from the power steering pump but a closer look pointed me to a hose coming from the front of the engine (breather hose ?) is it normal for oil to be leaking a bit from this hose? I have a friend with a 2000 and his has some kind of catch at the end of his but it is also leaking oil. Do i need to get me one of those catches for my rig and are you suppose to drain it when it gets full?

There is a big thread on this subject somewhere on here about this. I just read it yesterday. A guy blocked that hose off at the front of the motor, cut a hole in the valve cover in the back top, right corner, installed a grommet, and a breather, ran hose down the back to kill the problem. This is normal and a pain in the a**. Yes, you should empty that container every oil change.

Thanks for the info. I will do a check again for some thing about this. Moving it to the back sounds like a good move :) thanks again for the help

There are several fixes for this concern. Everyone has their own opinion on this subject. I'm sure you will find the fix thats right for you. Personally, I still just keep emptying my bottle and deal with the mess.
