2009 automatic 3500 stock. Been chasing leaks on front of engine mostly right side. Have found a few things and changed a couple hoses etc. Seems it is now coming from timing gear cover seal. Shop that is looking at it says this is a major project to get to this seal. Can't imagine its that hard to remove a cover. Like 2 days worth of labor to get it done. I;m going to look at it tomorrow.

Anybody changed this seal/gasket? How long did it take??

Thank
Keith

On my 01 I have the same issue. I couldn't tell for sure if it was the oil pan but seems to be too high up for that, or if it is the front cover or the timing cover. I stopped by a local shop I have used and trust just a couple weeks ago. A mechanic I have known for 15 years and is one of the very few who have worked on my truck said if it is the front cover pita but a few hours labor. If it is the timing cover major deal. Have to remove everything off the front and you have to pull the cam to change the seal (which doesn't make sense to me) but looking at it it is obvious that everything on the front has to come off just to get to it and if you have to pull the cam you are talking about pretty much removing everything all the way out to the bumper to get it out. On my truck just from a very quick look he felt it was probably the timing cover seal and thought it would be an 8-10 hour job. I have not gone back to get a real estimate from the owner of the shop but probably will in the next couple weeks
