IS it time to ask if the new first time CTD 03 buyer's know about letting the oil

drain down in the motor at least 30 min. before checking the oil

level on the dip stick! so not to over fill the motor?? GWD:confused:

To be consistent I always check mine in the morning before starting. I never check it hot.

Adding 12 quarts after an oil change with new filter puts it right on the Full mark on mine.

I have to agree with Vaughn, the best time to check engine oil level is in the AM before is is started. Especially if your using synthetic oil, as it will take a several hours for the oil to run off the top end to the pan.

I just had a thought (rare, thesedays). Why not file a mark on the dipstick when the engine is hot? I always check mine in the morning, too.

Good Ida Mr. Upson!!

that way the dealer might not over fill my 03 again!or for that

reason anybody Else. Thanks:)

Just heard about this today... I was told ALOT of dealers are charging out a quart of oil to warranty on new truck prep because checking when just shut off... thus overfilling the trucks. Wait a Minimum of 15-20, but next morning even better.....
