This post is probably going to open another which air filter is best debate, but I'm going to explain what I found in my turbo yesterday, and then ask for advice-opinions anyway. During my routine (5000 mile) oil change I always pull the intake hose off of the turbo for easy removal of the filter and to check the vanes on the turbo. I found serious oil, both on the vanes and on the inside of the housing, but the hose from the filter was perfectly dry and spotlessly clean. This oil was the same consistency and color as the oil from the crankcase. This leads me to believe it DID NOT come from the filter. My questions then are, is it possible for the seal in the turbo to belch oil? And if so is this a sign of an impending turbo failure? One other fear is the possibility of an out of control engine run on if this problem persists or worsens. The opinions of anybody who has had a similar problem, or knowledge of this situation and a possible cure-fix for this dilemma would be welcomed and appreciated.

Don, you've got no problem that an HX40 would'nt fix #ad
: Now tell the truth, is there really oil on the vanes #ad
or are you just priming your wife for the expense of the HX40. Of course everyone knows you can't just put on the HX40 by itself, you need the hi flow delivery valves to go with it #ad

Piers,
This was, is a serious question. I have been checking my turbo every two weeks or so since I put the RE-0880 on and have never seen a trace of oil or soot of any kind, until yesterday. As I said earlier I really think I may have a seal going, or possibly a bearing. This oil looked and smelled exactly like what I drained out of the crankcase. OF course if this is leading to a new turbo I probably will buy an HX-40 setup, can't see that much cost difference between the two. And I am going to be giving you a call on monday about the high flow valves and a set of 12 valve springs.
