I know, I know, but just have to ask. I got the new plug and installed it. When I purchased (see sig) it had written in paint pen "60 psi" (with an arrow pointing to the drain plug) written on the back side of the pan. I've continued the tradition up until the new plug install. The question is "40# just doesn't seem tight enough". I didn't go over 40# on the new one . . . only 40 miles so far all looks well. Anyone have a like story? What'd you do?

Joe, it has been my experience that 60 ft/lbs is way too tight. I thought I was never going to get it out. I tighten mine (factory plug) to about 35 ft/lbs and have not had a leak or loosening of the plug. Even at 35 it is a bear to get out 5K miles later. Hope this helps.

EDIT: fixed spelling error.

I don't torque mine anymore.

I torqued mine to 40 after my second oil change - just trying to be accurate. I thought I was going to tear the pan apart trying to get it loose on the next change. From then on, I just go by feel.
