Oil Pan Removal

I have some rust spots on my oil pan and would like to take it off to clean the rust and repaint it. Can the pan be removed with out raising the engine?

Tain't easy!

I think Evan A. Beck posted that you can do it. However, you have to pull the transmission and the bell houseing so it will come out from the rear.
