I'm going to replace the oil pan while the transmission (NV5600) is out. If the motor mounts are loosened and the engine hoisted from the front, will the engine rotate too far towards the back without support from the transmission mounts? The dodge manual says to support the engine at the pan when removing the transmission supposedly to keep from stressing the motor mounts. Worried that loosening the bolts and hoisting the front of the engine will put a lot of stress on the mounts?

I usually put a ratchet strap under the rear of the pan to the frame rails when removing the trans. To pull the pan I think you could completely loosen the mount bolts and raise the engine a couple inches from the center of the engine. I don’t think you would have to raise it real far with the trans out.

I would secure the engine to keep it from twisting if you lift it high enough to clear the frame mounts. The exhaust downpipe will keep it from moving very far fore and aft. Also, I removed the fan when I lifted my engine along with the intercooler boots.
