Oil cooler replacement

So I have some areas of surface rust on the oil pan of my 1996 12-valve. My plan was to lightly sand and then coat with some Eastwood Rust Encapsulator.

If I ever need the transmission out of the truck, I'll likely replace the pan with a new one. Does my plan sound like an okay fix until then?

Thanks for the advice!

David, thanks! I've used POR-15 in the past but the Eastwood is what I currently have sitting at home. Sounds like some kind of rust treatment will do the trick until the opportunity to replace the pan.

Sounds ok. From Amazon.

For the absolute ultimate rust remedy, first brush or spray-on Eastwood Rust Converter, then prime with Rust Encapsulator.

NOTE!

One 15-oz. aerosol covers about 10 sq. ft., and contains no isocyanates.

One Gallon covers about 160 Sq Ft.

Heat-resistant up to 400°F.

Made in the USA.
