Oil plug revisited

Is the fumoto oil drain valve the same as the finger touch from Geno's? I thought this would be the perfect accessory for me as I never go off road, but after reading all the posts about a leftover quart in the pan, I decided to wait. Do the holes drilled in the plug work or not? You would think the manufacturer would change something or drill them at the factory. Are they aware of the problem? Thanks

I use the hex head plug from genos and like it. I do not think it is necessary to open the oil drain all the way. I unscrew the drain plug till I get GOOD oil flow and then wait, sometimes overnight before finishing changeing the oil.

I don't like things on my oil pan that could leak or have some smart @$$ drain my oil simply by opening a valve.

Drain Valve

I have the finger touch drain valve and I think it's great. I tested the function of the cross-holes and they work. I don't think there is much chance of the valve breaking off. That small risk is worth the extra convenience, IMHO.



In case you are wondering how I tested it: -- I drained all the oil (allowing it to sit overnight). I installed the valve (after cross-drilling it), dumped in a measured amount of clean oil and collected virtually the same amount of clean oil out of the drain valve.

Yes, the Fumoto drain valve is the same as the finger touch from Geno's.

Be aware - I ordered the heavier hex head plug from Geno's only to find that it won't fit my 2002. The threaded diameter of the stock 2002 drain plug is quite a bit smaller than the Geno's hex head plug.
