Hello to everyone just a quick question, I am about to do my first oil change on my 2 month old ctd, can anyone tell me the plug size (what wrench do i need) also what is the torque on the plug, (BTW) I have noticed my oil level is just a hair over the full line is this something to worry about I only have 1200 miles on her now but i do a lot of city stop and go, and it has been in the single numbers around here since i got the truck, Thanks in advance for your help.

It is just a 3/8 square hole in the plug. You just use a 3/8 rachet and extension to remove it. It torques to 37 ft lbs. Has your oil level been the same since you bought it. If it is rising there is cause for concern if not I wouldn't worry about it. Just fill the filter and put remainder of 3 gallons in the engine and it will be fine. This usually puts mine about half way between the safe marks. The manual actually calls for 11 qts. but that is a little low on my stick.

Word of caution. DO NOT OVER-TORQUE THE PLUG! I recommend just snugging it up good and call it done.

There have been instances of the plug breaking / stripping from torquing to / over what is recommended by DC on 2nd gens. :--) 3rd gens are no different.

I replaced the plug with a Fram Sure drain, cost $13 from Wal-Mart never have to worry about the plug again, also easier to control the 3 gallons of oil as it comes out with the supplied 8" hose.
