Help after the 99 quad 4x4 sets for 8 hrs or longer , I start it up and then after running for about 5 minutes the chimes ding and the oil pressure is at zilch O no oil pressure at all appr. 3 seconds later everything is back to normal oil pressure about 75 to 80 lbs.

this only happens on initial start up, if you shut it down after a thirty mile run let it set for 2 to 3 hrs it acts alright , has anyone out there got any ideas about what is going on? Thanks Don

Mine did something similar when the sender went out, but it wasn't nearly as predictable as what you describe. On mine the pressure would shoot all over and then go back to being fine.

If you decide to change the sender, this is what I learned:

1. The sender is only about 70 bucks at Cummins and $170 at Dodge, and

2. You need an 1 1/4 deep well to change it. Sears doesn't carry them that big but Home Depot has them for about 8 bucks.

You might also look at the wire and make sure its plugged in tight. The sender is about 12 inchs below the fuel filter.

Good luck.
