???CP3 pressure when cranking???

I have a 2004 Ram Quad 8 ft. bed , (305/550) 6sp. . The problem(s) I have are these: I had the fuel regulator replaced under warranty, I also had two of the injectors replaced under warranty. Now the gauge for the amps always reads a bit high. Not out of range but always on the charging side. I have recently replaced both batteries . But the problem is still there. Second, my oil pressure for the first 70,000 miles only fluctuated a small bit over the center mark when driving, to a small bit under it when idling. Now it stays a small bit over the mark when I'm driving but when the truck warms up the pressure goes significantly down at idle. Not in the warning area but, pretty close to the low line. Oil level is fine. Any help would be great. My Dodge dealership charges $90 just to look at it. There is a Cummins service center pretty close also, but their look-see charge is $130. I would like to know if any of you are experiencing these symptoms, and what has been done. I live northwest of Detroit, and my truck has about 75,000 miles on it.

Welcome to the TDR RonVpr!

Everything on these truck, and I mean everything, is controlled by the ECM. Most likely what you are seeing with your voltage, oil pressure, etc are due to an ECM reflash that the dealer performed without telling you. Someone here will correct me if I'm wrong (I hope), but I'm pretty sure I'm right. Also, as I understand it, Cummins can't take a look since DC no longer uses the Cummins provided ECM on the CR motors.

I'll go ahead and save you a hundred bucks.

The Oil guage on the dash is a dummy gauge. The only oil related sensor on the engine itself is a switch that reads on or off. If the switch sees 7 psi its happy and it tells the ECM/PCM/Gauge cluster everythings OK... at that point the computer takes over and makes the needle follow the rpm's to simulate actual pressures for that rpm range.

Basically everything you describe is normal about the oil.

Sounds like your amp gauge is ok too.

**on the older trucks 2001 and earlier there was an actual oil pressure sensor on the engine that would give off gauged readings.
