06 2500 5.9 cummins. I drove the truck about 30 miles and then stopped for prob 5 min. as soon as I stopped I kicked it out of gear and after about 20 seconds of idleing my check auges light came on and my oil pressure dropped to 0. I reved it up and it came up to normal "about 40-45" then about 20 seconds later it did it again but everytime I touched the gas it would come back up to normal. I shut the truck off and then started it again and it would still do it. does anyone know what this could be? thanks

Could be the oil pressure sending unit. I would not run the engine until you install a manual oil pressure gauge to be sure that you have oil pressure at idle.

If the oil pressure is above 6psi, the gauge only shows what it thinks it should be, using an algorithm method to determine what that is. So in other words its just a glorified idiot light. Because its going below 6psi it shows 0, it may well be 5 or less. Shut the truck down until you can determine if its a faulty sending unit or your oil pressure is truly below 6psi, as mentioned before connect a true oil pressure sending unit and gauge to determine that.
