I have a question. While driving my truck today, my APPS began to fail, resulting in throwing a p0121 DTC. I have already accepted the fact that I will probably need to replace the APPS, but when scanning for the codes, I found an additional p0522 (low voltage on oil pressure sending unit).

My question is, does this mean my oil pressure sending unit is dying? If it is dying, are they very expensive? It does not look too difficult to change, but looks can be deceiving. I have noticed that my oil pressure gauge has been reading lower than normal for the last few days.

I remember there was great discussion with regard to oil pressure being read by the ECM, and there even is an ECM re-flash that just tells the gauge on the dash to stay high, but I am out of warranty, and I would rather fix the problem, not just ignore it.

Thanks,

Most likely the sender is dying. If its available to you go ahead and hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the top of the oil filter. There is a 1/8" npt plug. Just to be sure. Replacement is about $80. 00.
