Well the second oil pressure sending unit took a dirt nap after less than 10,000 mi. Should I go back to the dealer and let them do it again? Is the cummins part any different/better than DC's?

Is there a better aftermarket unit I can buy? Nothing but questions so far but I have one more, how hard is it change out yourself. TIA

Most dealership parts are warrantied 12mos/12K, even if it was a "end of warranty" repair.

Its on the ds of the engine below and rearward of the ECM.

I'm wondering if you have other electrical gremlins as the pressure switch sends a varying signal as pressure rises/ falls, which in turn allows the gauge to show incremental pressure.

Annoying huh?

Good luck,

warranty

Andy, I'm still under warranty but its a pain in the arse to take it in every 10k and risk having them screw up something else. I told the service manager not to do the reflash last time, he was smart enough to agree with me that it was not a good thing to do. I just wonder if the sending unit from cummins is the same. If it is, I may as well stick with the dealer and warranty. No other electrical gremlins that I have noticed. Symtoms are needle goes to the high end of the operating scale, 80lbs. +-, and stays there, idle or 2500 rpm, then occasionally it drops to 0 for awhile then back up again.
