oil pressure

When I idle down my oil pressure gauge drops to zero and check alarms come on. I stop and check the oil. When I restart or just turn the key on the gauge works. Any ideas?

I would replace the sending unit first. If it still does it then you need to get a real gauge on it.
The stock sending unit is just a switch - it does not tell the truck anything more than there is more or less than 6 psi (IIRC).
The swing of the meter is all just a show the trucks computer puts on - nothing more. It's really just an idiot light.

Just had the same problem on my 06 Oil pressure sending unit was bad.
