cleaning oil pressure switch rheostat
Mine did the same thing, replaced under warranty lasted about a year, same thing again, last week I took the old unit and removed the black plastic cover with a screwdriver, careful not to tear the oring while separating the cover, then clean the excess lubricating grease from the wire resistor, mine had piled it up on the low end of the wipers range of motion. You can put an ohm meter on it and apply air pressure with a regulator in line and see if the resistance is linear with the pressure,I think the resistance ranged from 80 ohm to 40 ohms. Mine works fine for now my be a temporary fix only time will tell. By the way this was on a 98 12 valve I think the sensors changed that year in preparation for the 24 valve. This may not work on other years but with the price of the switch it's worth a try. Tim
