Do the oil pump bolts go through the aluminum gear case and thread into the cast iron or do they thread into the gear case only?
Reason I ask is I have an oil leak that looks like it may be coming from that side of the case. These would be the only bolts in the area applying clamping force to the gear case.
My leaking is here coming from where I can't see no matter which way I try to look. It runs down to the front corner of teh oil pan and drips about a 2" puddle every time I park. I had the front cover gasket replace and the front main seal. That part is dry. Any help would be appreciated.
If that side of the gear case is not clamped well I may come up with some sort of external clamping solution to stop the leak instead of doing that horrendous gear case gasket job.
