I am thinking of changing the oil pump on my 97. The engine was rebuilt 18k ago, but I reused the oil pump(160k). Now the trucks oil pressure is 10-15 at idle hot and 35-40 crusing at 1800rpm. The question I have, is there a high pressure high volume pump to use, or should I use a stock pump? Where is the best place & price to get one?

Thanks

Kevin

I'd bet your stock pump is fine. If you're using the factory gauge, try checking with a mechanical gauge. You may be suprised at the pressure readings.

Great place to check on top of the oil filter housing. Just remove the 1/4" plug and screw in a gauge.

Good luck,RJR
