Well I just used my last free oil change from dodge. Now its time to start doing my own. Im just curious whick oil you recommend, and how much oil does a CR engine use? Im guessing the new rotella, how many quarts, or should i just buy in gallons. If so how many gallons? Thanks in advance

The 3rd gen CRD uses 12 quarts, or three gallons.

I believe Mopar uses Valvoline, but a lot of guys run Rotella as well as others...

There is a real nice write up in the latest TDR magazine about oils. Seems there really isn't any difference any more between oils. Buy whatever you can find the lowest priced and meets the engine requirements.

Oil

I would encourage you t research independent oil tests. I truely believe in AMSOIL. It is the only thing that will go into my vehicles. I was an AMSOIL user before I was a dealer. I just do it for the price cut. Take your time and research. Good luck. If there is anything I can help you with let me know.

There is alot of information on TDR, Look up some old posts on oil, alot of owners have their own opinions and reasons for them. Look at some of them.
