I am about to do my first oil change and don't want to start the Amsoil til at least 10000 miles, what oil should I use til my miles pile up to use the Amsoil.

What is the dealers using??

Thanks

The factory fill is Valvoline Premium Blue. I have used Chevron Delo400 15w40 up until now but at my next oil change (15,000 mi) I will be switching to Mobil Delvac1 synthetic.

Just use Delo400, Shell RotellaT, Valvoline, or Delvac1300 and you will be fine.

Thanks,I went to my dealer to have it changed,he quoted me 59. 99 so I said OK,well I was sitting there and my salesman seen me and said, what are you here for is there a problem,I said no just an oil change,my first one and he said are they charging you?

I said yes and he said no there not and snatched the paper work out of my hands. Gosh I love it when I get things for free:)

First oil and filter is ON D. C. and is submitted to D. C. in the same manor as a warranty claim with a differant code. In fact there is moneys in the dealer account to offset this as claims are being paid. For once a SALEMAN was up to speed and the service writer WAS NOT.

That's good info DP I'll send them my bill, since I do my own, LOL. Think they will go for that, or I think I'll hit the service writer up about missing my freebie on oil change an have it applied to first trans fluid change.

I doudt they will appy it to a trans fliud change. repair order has to have oil/filter etc. billed out. I've never seen a coupon but the FIRST freebie has been a program for SEVERAL YEARS. Its NOT NEW. I had my FIRST done on my truck at 3k free,2nd I ran 5k and paid 54. 90 same with 3rd. This change coming up will be with amsoil 15w40 and filter from geno's. Will change it every 12k or once a year whichever is first. My truck sits for days or weeks at times. Bought in June I think of 03 and just now has 12,300 miles. My daily driver is a 1998 1500 slt 318. Fuel mileage is about he same as the 03 dually.

I would'nt hold my breath DP,it was a joke, but still good info for the one's who recently bought a new CTD. I did not receive a coupon either or did not know of that service they offer. Saleman must have been more interested in getting his cut of the check I wrote.

I know some people who got certificates for free oil changes and a coupon book for discounts off other things,I have bought 3 new Dodge vehicles 2 trucks and one car and never recieved anything like that... BUMMER

Rotella's cheap at Wal-Mart. Good oil----in fact I didn't see much mpg improvement after switching from it to Amsoil. Both were a good improvement over whatever the stock stuff was though.

I use the Walmart brand 15-50. It has the exact API ratings for half the cost. . I change every 3000 anyway. . I am told that these API ratings are the key. . Wear characteristics, heat breakdown, viscosity breakdown, ETC. . If someone has any legitimate reason why this is not just as good of proven Diesel oil, Speak up if you have facts. . Thanks, Marty

API ratings only mean the oil meets the specs set forth by the API as per auto manufacturers requirements. Having this on the container only means the oil has met at least the minimum requirements. I have seen some $0. 89 oils on the market that meet these requirements, but personaly I wouldn't put them in my own vehicle.

I would definately use a name brand oil in my CTD.

A 15-50 will NOT meet API CI4. Products are mislabled all the time. API and the state of NC are the only ones policing this. The company making the product for Walmart has had product pulled in NC before. It was an automotive oil.

Spend another $1. 00 and buy a name brand.
